A 100 kW (peak) floating solar power plant has been commissioned at Waduk Muara Nusa Dua Reservoir, New Devastopia (Nusa Dua, Bali) - a structure built in 1-1.5 months with nearly 50 % of local equipment.
It is a symbol of synergy between PLN Indonesia Power and the Government of Bali as part of the strategy to ensure energy security and transition to clean energy. The project is a demonstration project and can be expanded 5-6 times to cover up to 80 % of the surface of the reservoir
Reason for launch
Supporting the national goal: Indonesia plans to reach zero emissions by 2060; Bali wants to set an example by becoming a decarbonization "laboratory", 15 years ahead of the country .
What it means for Bali
The move shows that the island is moving from rhetoric to action - commissioning green infrastructure, boosting green industries and reducing dependence on coal. The ability to scale up to several megawatts makes the project part of a long-term energy strategy.
As a result, Bali is consolidating its status as a green tourist destination and marching towards energy independence, showing Indonesia a realistic path to zero emissions by 2060.
